Ballard Unveils Fuel Cell-powered Transit Buses in Australia
Ballard Power Systems announced during the Western Australian Department for Planning and Infrastructure “Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Futures Conference” earlier this week the launch of three Mercedes-Benz Citaro buses, powered by Ballard heavy-duty fuel cell engines, to be demonstrated on various routes in Perth.
According to the company, representatives have been available during the conference to demonstrate Ballard’s fuel cell technology and offer participants the opportunity to ride in Ballard-powered fuel cell buses.
“The commissioning of these three buses powered with Ballard fuel cells puts Western Australia at the forefront of the most dramatic and sweeping transformation in the history of motor transport,” said Ballard president and CEO Dennis Campbell. “Ballard fuel cells produce electrical power without combustion, and without the urban pollutants and greenhouse gases that threaten our quality of life.”
