ATI Announces X800-Based All-In-Wonder

ATI Technologies has formally disclosed the All-In-Wonder X800 XT, jumping the gun on an announcement that wasn’t expected for some time.

ATI representatives said this week that the PCI Express-based X800 All-In-Wonder card wasn’t expected for at least a week, but the Canadian chipmaker apparently decided to accelerate its plans. The board will offered in North America this fall for $499, and will be sold by Connect3D Inc., Hightech Information System Ltd., Sapphire Technology Ltd., and others.

The new card includes new technolgies like VideoShader HD, with improved de-interlacing capabilities and the ability to decode

MPEG1/2/4, Real Media, DivX and Microsoft Windows Media Video 9.

The card ships with the Multimedia Center 9.02 software, with “EazyLook”, a ten-foot UI for living-room viewing, new connector dongles, and ATI’s Remote Wonder II. The card includes the Gemplus GuidePlus+ North American viewing guide, an ATI-specific version of Pinnacle Studio 9, muvee autoProducer and Matchware Mediator 7.

European add-in-board manufacturers will each configure their own products, based on the All-In-Wonder X800 XT, later this year, ATI said.
