French Book Manufacturer Cpi Acquires British Printers Mackays
The French CPI group, manufacturer of monochrome and colour books, has signed an agreement on the acquisition of the English book printers Mackays. The acquisition will be finalised before the end of October, according to CPI, the European leader in its area, with anticipated turnover of FF2 billion (Euro 340 million) for 2000. Based in Kent, Mackays has a turnover of Euro 38.87 million. It produces more than 50 million books a year and has a workforce of 330. The acquisition is fully in line with CPI’s growth strategy launched in 1996. Founded that same year, CPI is established in France, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Belgium. Its 3,500 employees produce more than a million printed books daily, as well as a range of magazines.
