New York-based Scholastic has completed its $43 million acquisition of Palo Alto, Calif.-based Klutz, a children’s book and activity kit publisher. Klutz previously was owned by Canadian media company Corus Entertainment Inc. Klutz ended fiscal 2001 on Aug. 31 with approximately $39 million in revenue. Klutz will contribute some 150 titles to Scholastic, which will house Klutz in its children’s book division and market its products through school book clubs and fairs.
Corinthian Colleges Inc., a for-profit post-secondary education company based in Santa Ana, Calif., has agreed to acquire all outstanding stock of Wyo-Tech Acquisitions Corp., which operates two post-secondary campuses. The $85 million acquisition is expected to be completed in July. With the addition of the Wyo-Tech campuses, Corinthian will operate 65 schools in 21 states.
