The Franklin Mint invites top doll artisans to participate in its second annual doll competition held at The Franklin Mint Museum in collaboration with Doll Reader.

The competition will be held in conjunction with Franklin Mint’s upcoming 1999 Holiday Exhibit, which will run from November 16, 1999, through January 2, 2000. The exhibit will feature baby, child, and toddler dolls from the personal collections of members of The Brandywine Doll Club, The Betsy Ross Doll and Toy Club, and The Lancaster Red Rose Doll Club.

All artists are invited to submit clear, close-up photographs of their work in one of the following categories: artist original baby/child/toddler doll, restoration of an original antique baby/child/toddler doll, reproduction of an antique baby/ child/toddler doll, or miniature baby/child/toddler doll. The name of the doll and background information is requested for each submission. A panel of experts from The Franklin Mint and Doll Reader will jury all entries.

Photo entries are due no later than Friday, October 1, 1999. Winners will be selected from each category. “Best of Show” will be presented to the overall winner. Winning artists will be notified by October 16, 1999, and instructed on how to submit actual dolls for inclusion in the show. The Best of Show winner will receive a special gift from The Franklin Mint valued at over $2500, plus a free one-year subscription to Doll Reader. The winner in each category will also be featured in Doll Reader.
