OF THE 32,000 suicides in the United States every year, about 80 percent are committed by men–even though women are twice as likely to suffer from major depression. A new study suggests that women cope more effectively with stress: they are much more likely to talk about their problems with friends and doctors. Men, however, often believe that asking for help is a sign of incompetence.
