HOUSE RESTRICTS SALE OF METH INGREDIENT

Iowa: HOUSE RESTRICTS SALE OF METH INGREDIENT

The House approved a bill, HF 2259, to restrict retail sales of pseudoephedrine-the key ingredient for processing methamphetamine.

The bill prohibits merchants from selling more than two boxes of any medication with pseudoephedrine to a single customer. Violations would carry a prison sentence for both the retailer and the customer.

Iowa was second to Missouri in the number of meth lab busts in 2003.
