FTA can help you stay legal

FTA can help you stay legal

Just imagine that you were to lose your ability to use your van. Transport is a fundamental ingredient in the operation of almost the whole of UK industry. No transport means no business. So you need to ensure not only that you operate your transport strictly legally–the penalties are severe and you can lose the right to operate vehicles at all–but also that you operate vehicles at all–but also that you operate it as possible, thus improving performance and minimising costs.

But perhaps you don’t know anything about transport? And why should you? You are a builder, or a printer, or a pet food seller, or a butcher, baker or candlestick maker. Whatever you are, you are not a transport specialist. You just happen to run a small fleet of vehicles. And that’s where joining the industry’s transport trade association can help you–the Freight Transport Association (FTA). The FTA operates specifically to service the transport needs of UK industry, and is all about providing representation and services to support the needs of companies that require transport in order to conduct their business. FTA members range from the very largest supermarkets and retailers, through manufacturers, service organisations and public utilities, to local authorities and on to small and medium-sized outfits, perhaps running just one or two vehicles. In fact, despite FTA representing all of the big fleets, 75% of FTA members operate less than five vehicles. The FTA is there to serve them all.
