Telewest broadband hits the north – News – Scotland – Brief Article

ScoLocate, the largest collocation facility in Scotland, has gone live with Telewest Broadband’s blueyonder ISP. Having installed a gateway router and arranged peering at WorldIX, Scolocate is Scotland’s first commercial Internet Exchange (IX). In addition to hosting blueyonder’s IP point of presence (PoP), Telewest Broadband will commission ScoLocate’s new Network Access Point (NAP)–an additional gateway for the Telewest network.

Telewest Broadband will now deliver IP services including IP transit, internet connectivity, and managed IP bandwidth directly from the Edinburgh facility. Peering at WorldIX will also enable blueyonder services to connect to a number of internet backbone providers.

Chad Raube, head of internet services at Telewest Broadband said: “We identified a need for more capacity to meet the demand for our blueyonder services. By being at ScoLocate, there are a number of options available to us that will be of major benefit to our customers throughout the UK.”
