Many companies have realized significant savings by outsourcing E-mail, fax, and voice broadcasting (“Should It Stay or Should It Go?” February). There are those who purchase technology to provide those services in-house, thinking they will save money. On top of the purchase price, however, they neglect to include the cost of personnel to run and maintain the equipment and software, the annual cost of the maintenance contract, the electricity bill, and lost use of the capital.
