Vendors have long cut deals with retailers to help meet sales targets or gain prime shelf space. But the scandal at Dutch grocery giant Ahold has raised questions about accounting for vendor allowances. Indeed, SEC inquiries into the practice, as well as stricter guidance for booking such items, could bring a whole new set of worries for CFOs. Assistant editor Craig Schneider reports.
