Dear Godless Americans Marching on Washington!
Greetings from the Swiss national Association of Freethinkers. The central committee has asked me to write expressing our solidarity and full sympathy for your cause.
As the largest association of the “God-free” in Switzerland (and those who do not need Gods are surely not God-“less”) we fully sympathize with the goals of this march to speak out for freedom from belief, church-state separation, civil rights and the true representation of religion-free values in public policy. We share your concern that the rise of religious fanaticism and irrationalism is dangerously influencing politics in the US and around the world. This fashion for monotheistic fundamentalisms is undermining not only the American constitution but also international values such as those enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
History teaches us that the path to peace and progress does not lead through an excess of religion but through reason and respect for humanity. We wish you all a successful march and an enjoyable and dry day!
