Alamo Rent A Car

Alamo Nears One Millionth Rental via Kiosk. Alamo Rent A Car is nearing its one millionth kiosk rental. The company reported that hundreds of thousands of kiosk rentals ahead of its competitors. After successful testing in Dallas, Las Vegas, and Jacksonville, Alamo began installing kiosks throughout its network of rental locations in November 2006. Today, Alamo operates 159 kiosks at 65 U.S. locations in 28 states and the District of Columbia, and it continues to refine the technology and expand the number of kiosk locations. Alamo expects to reach its one millionth kiosk rental within the next few weeks. Recent advancements in Alamo’s kiosk technology include the ability for customers who do not have a reservation to simply walk up and use the kiosk. Customers also may add or change their frequent flyer program numbers at the kiosk for airline award points. Feb 6, 2008

Auto Europe

Auto Europe Offers Free Upgrades, Introduces 2008 Agent Program. Auto Europe, which specializes in European car rental services, is giving early-booking bonuses on reservations made by February 29 for travel through December 31. This includes a complimentary one-car class upgrade from compact to intermediate in select European countries. Additionally, travelers will receive up to 20 percent off any Prestige, Mercedes-Benz or sports car rental in Europe and up to 6 percent off any European car rental at any of 4,000 locations. Auto Europe isn’t concentrating all its efforts on consumers, but also incentivizing travel agents with its 2008 Loyalty and Rewards Travel Agent program. Through September 30, agents who make 25 car rental reservations can earn roundtrip airfare for one and a seven-day compact car rental. If the number is 50 bookings, agents will earn roundtrip airfare for two and a seven-day intermediate model car rental. Auto Europe says the discounts being offered to consumers will help travel agents increase their volume of bookings. Feb 7, 2008

Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Enterprise Sets Distribution Deal with CarTrawler. Car rental distribution system CarTrawler signed a distribution agreement with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The agreement is good for Enterprise airport locations in North America. The deal gives Enterprise access to a global car rental distribution system, and the world’s largest global network of online car hire providers. CarTrawler focuses on dynamic cross-selling of car rental at a number of key selling points, leading to increased ancillary revenues for third party partners and increased sales for car rental companies globally. CarTrawler guarantees global distribution of content to airlines, national tourism organizations, tour operators, lodgings, travel agent desktops, and online travel agents. Feb 6, 2008

Enterprise Signs Distribution Deal With CarTrawler. Enterprise Rent-A-Car has signed a distribution agreement that gives it access to the CarTrawler GDS. CarTrawler focuses on cross-selling of car rentals and guarantees global distribution of content to airlines, national tourism organizations, tour operators, hotels and travel agents. Feb 5, 2008


Europcar new benefits. Last year s acquisition of National Car Rental s EMEA business by Europcar, will provide the platform for the company to showcase its newly-strengthened proposition at this year s Business Travel Show. The acquisition of National has made Europcar the number one rental company in the UK, representing nearly 30% of the UK market, and the largest single purchaser of vehicles in the country. It also strengthens Europcar s position as number one in continental Europe. In the nine months since the acquisition, the working practices of Europcar and National have been integrated to deliver enhanced customer service, with some of the key benefits including one fleet and more than 100 rental locations open 24h per day. Hertz Affordable Europe Returns for 2008 with Free Day. United States and Canadian residents traveling to Europe this year can take advantage of special offers from Hertz designed to make renting a vehicle overseas even easier and more affordable. Customers renting an Affordable Rental at any participating Hertz location worldwide, including participating locations in Europe, receive a free rental day valid on qualifying Affordable Rentals of seven or more days. Reservations must be made by March 31, 2008 for a full-size or larger car, with rentals picked up and completed by Dec. 15, 2008. 2008 Hertz Affordable Europe participating countries include the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Ireland, Luxembourg, Macedonia and Belgium, plus many other countries. To take advantage of this offer, customers can book the reservation on using Promotion Code (PC#) 112895. The special offer page, which can be found in the Special Offers section of, must be printed and presented at time of vehicle rental. Customers may also make reservations through their travel agent. Reservations must be made from the U.S. or Canada at least eight hours prior to vehicle pick-up.
