Stockard mothers a lesbian – Brief Article
“I missed out on being Glenn Close’s girlfriend,” reveals Stockard Channing, whose schedule kept her out of the Judy Davis role in the 1995 film Serving in Silence. “I was always sorry I wasn’t able to do that.” Still, the always cool Channing has appeared in such films as 1995’s To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar and 1998’s The Baby Dance by lesbian filmmaker Jane Anderson. Next, Channing plays a mother struggling with her teen daughter’s lesbianism in Jane’s Coming Out Party, to air on Lifetime in August. “I love the title,” says the star. “There’s some wit to it.” Sadly, there’s been talk of changing it to A Daughter’s Secret. “In which case I will boycott the whole thing,” Channing says. “I’m told the film is very moving. We’re hoping they don’t dick around with the title.”
