Shepard steers clear of MTV pic – Brief Article
Matthew Shepard’s mother, Judy Shepard, has issued a press release underscoring that neither she nor the Matthew Shepard Foundation were in any way involved with the MTV movie Anatomy of a Hate Crime. The movie, which is based on the 1998 murder of her son, who was a student at the University of Wyoming, premiered January 10, kicking off the network’s yearlong social campaign “Fight for Your Rights: Take a Stand Against Discrimination.”
While Shepard said she appreciates MTV’s efforts to fight prejudice, she added that Anatomy is not an accurate portrayal of the Shepard family’s experience. That stow, she said, will be part of an authorized movie that she, Cherry Alley Productions, and Atlantic Alliance are working on. That movie is scheduled to air this spring on NBC.
