As far as womanscaping, she says, “there is a cadre of lesbians who like hairier women, the she-bears of the sapphic world. I haven’t shaved my legs since the ’80s, and my pits are unshaved, but I get my eyebrows waxed. For some bearded ladies I have met at the Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival, it’s a way of freeing yourself from the expectations of other people and being your own woman.”–S.A.
