Designed in basic black and red, the FireFLAG/EMS site provides “just the facts” for this organization of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered firefighters and paramedics. The site also includes excellent links to related Web pages and information about the group’s annual “Guns and Hoses” retreat. Although it is most active in New York, FireFLAG/EMS operates nationally, with a goal of providing 24-hour peer support and education for gay firefighters and paramedics. http://www.fireflag.org
Campus outing
Times are changing for the gay and lesbian students and alumni of religious colleges–proven by the recent public coming-out of alumni at Oral Roberts University homecoming events. Now these students and alumni have a resource online: HeartStrong Inc. Cofounded by an alum of Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University, the site includes press releases, newsletter information, and a separate section just for students. It even has its own ribbon campaign (in varsity blue and gold) to raise awareness of gay and lesbian students everywhere. http://www.heartstrong.org
