Come out, tune in: gay pride is busting out all over TV in June, with special programming for queer audiences – Gay Pride Month – Brief Article
Alonso Duralde
Even if the current U.S. president won’t make it official, June is Gay Pride Month–especially on cable TV. Whether you take in the nearest parade and rainbow-drenched street festival or not, all you really need to celebrate is a satellite dish or cable hookup. The Sundance Channel’s month-long Out Loud series will feature the lesbian festival hit By Hook or by Crook, a sneak peek at The Cockettes, a spotlight on French director Francois Ozon (Criminal Lovers), and a total of more than 30 GLBT features and docs. Highlights on Starz! include the world TV premiere of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, while Bravo boasts The Whole Warhol, a new documentary from Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey, the makers of The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
