Case dismissed – Lawsuit

Kevin Maynard

Dueling harassment suits between two founding members of POWER UP, a networking organization for lesbians in the film industry, were dropped November 8–just six days after news of the clash became public.

Karen Pearson Brown, who left the organization in August, had sued executive director Stacy Codikow for sexual harassment. Codikow, who denied the charges, had countersued for defamation of character and sexual harassment.

Spokespeople for both women said that both suits were dropped. Pearson Brown and her lawyer, Craig T. Byrnes, refused to comment. Codikow would say only, “We went to mediation. At the end of that, [Pearson Brown] dropped the case.”
