China’s Lishen increasing production of li batteries

China Chemical Week also reports that an expansion project by Tianjin Lishen Battery Joint Stock Co. Ltd. has been completed and commissioned. The company’s yearly production of lithium batteries now will increase from its previous 15M pieces to SOM pieces, ranking first in China.

Lishen initiated the lithium storage battery expansion project last year, and had most of the production equipment installed by the end of the year. The company will mainly produce three kinds of lithium batteries – cylindrical, square, and winding polymer – which will be used in cell phones, notebook computers, and digital cameras. Lishen says its winding polymer lithium battery has reached the world advanced level. It also has successfully developed the domestically thinnest 3.6-3.8mm square lithium battery, which meets the requirements for new mobiles.

The lithium battery industry has two orientations, CCW says, one toward small batteries for mobiles and notebooks, the other toward large batteries for electric bicycles, electric motorcylces, and mixed power automobiles. Through three years of development Lishen has held a leading position in small battery production in China, and also will continue exploring the R&D and production of large batteries.
