Paul Norris scored 21 points, 15 more than his average, to guide Wallace past visiting Lakeside 51-46 Thursday night in non-league boys basketball.

Wallace’s Stefan Norris added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Mike Sifford led Lakeside with 22 points.

The Miners played without seniors Vince Lee and Craig Shiner, who were ejected in their last game. Wallace started two juniors, two sophomores and a freshman.

Blair Holdal, Nadia Poesy and Layna Reynolds combined for 36 points as the fifth-seeded Loggers edged the No. 4 Miners in an opener at Lewiston High.

Gretchen Bailey scored 25 points for the Miners.

Wallace shot 8 of 10 from the line while Potlatch was 6 of 19.

In the other tournament game, undefeated Grangeville defeated Orofino 59-33.

Wallace will play Orofino (2-18) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in a loser- out game. Potlatch will take on Grangeville (18-0) at 7:30 Saturday.

Sophomore Adam Benda (125) and freshman Logan Sheldon (145) registered two pins apiece as St. Maries picked up a pair of home wins.

The Lumberjacks defeated Timberlake 57-15 in an Intermountain League match, and topped Lake City 42-35 in a non-leaguer.

Ben Felix (160) of St. Maries, competing for the first time this season because of an injury, defeated LC’s Arthur Finnicum 12-10 in overtime.

Also in the IML, seniors Sean McCrite (160) and Derek Hale (189) notched pins on Senior Night as Lakeland defeated visiting Kellogg 57- 22 at Rathdrum. Lakeland senior Ken Edmundson edged Joe Murinko 3-2 at 275.

Moscow canceled its Inland Empire League home meet with Post Falls because of skin conditions for a few Moscow wrestlers.

Colville, Lakeside and Medical Lake settled for a tie.

All three wrestling teams won Thursday night to complete the Great Northern League in a three-way tie for first place, with 6-1 records.

Colville posted a 52-23 win over visiting Riverside (4-3). Dusty Jones (119 pounds), David Palumbo (160) and Nick Mahugh (189) of the Indians finished the league season undefeated. Riverside’s Matt Clore defeated Matt Lindquist 9-8 at 145 with an escape with 10 seconds left in the second overtime.

Medical Lake picked up five forfeit wins during a 42-31 win over visiting Newport (3-4). Newport won seven of the nine matches contested.

Lakeside picked up nine forfeit wins during a 78-4 win over visiting Chewelah (0-7) at Nine Mile Falls. Lakeside seniors Josh Brown (189) and Robby Shaw (275) had pins.
