Make your voice heard

Make your voice heard

The Chase Youth Commission’s Teen Advisory Council hopes to fill 130 positions this year with teens who want the opportunity to have a voice in our community.

This year, the council will work on the 2003 Chase Youth Awards, the Youth Voice Forum and the Battle of the Bands. Writers are needed for the new communications committee to issue news releases and articles for local publications. The first council meeting will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 10 at City Hall.

For applications, due Friday, or more information, contact the City/County Youth Department at 625-6440 or e-mail Wendy Acosta at wacosta@spokanecity.org.

Planning for New Year’s Eve: Thousands of families had a great time last year at First Night Spokane in downtown Spokane on New Year’s Eve. There was music of all types to dance and listen to. Lots of talented artists and entertainers. But there wasn’t a lot for teens to do.

The First Night programming committee would like to know what teens would enjoy on New Year’s Eve. There is lots of room for more music and activities. The committee needs ideas and suggestions. What bands are you interested in? What type of dance? Any art activities or other entertainment?

Please send comments to First Night Teen Response, P.O. Box 8348, Spokane, WA 99203.
