Feature creature

This stately lady’s name is Cassie. She is listed as a German shepherd mix, and she has a beautiful brindle coat and floppy ears.

Cassie was taking a stroll by herself on Oct. 27 when she was picked up. She has been at the shelter since.

She’s a “sleeper” in her kennel. I walked past her three times as she lay quietly, watching the parade of people before I stopped to take a closer look. You have to take her out in the play yard before she will turn on her charm.

She knows “sit,” “speak” and “beg,” and she does them all at the same time just to make sure she gets it right. This calm, mature dog tested positive in all areas of her temperament assessment.

Come and meet her. She is in Kennel 1, Cage 6, at the Humane Society of Spokane, 6607 N. Havana St. The Humane Society is open seven days a week. Adoption fees are $80 or $84, depending on where you live, and include licensing, vaccinations and spay or neuter.
