In the Sac State at Portland State game last week, Sac State guard DaShawn Freeman played 37 minutes, most of the time guarding Will Funn of PSU, who played 38 minutes. Freeman had 14 points, nine assists, 11 turnovers and eight steals; Funn 11 points, 12 assists, five turnovers and five steals. PSU won 79-69. … EWU’s 44-41 win over Sac State was its best defensive effort in 10 years and 250 games. The Eags beat Cal Poly 92-40 on Dec. 30, 1994. Sac State’s 27.5 percent shooting was the worst for an EWU opponent in five years. … The last time EWU scored fewer points and won was 1,479 games ago – a 42-40 win over Gonzaga in 1949. … Idaho State shot 14.8 percent in the first half, falling behind Montana 45-17. The Bengals shot 19.2 percent for the game, losing 70-41, with 20 points coming from the foul line. … Montana State’s 76-67 win at Weber was its first Big Sky win of the year. Add a 74-66 overtime win at Idaho State and the Bobcats had their first conference road sweep in three years. … Weber snapped a five-game skid with a 76-62 win over Montana, led by Lance Allred’s eighth double-double.
