Solargenix Negotiates Lease for New NV Solar Plant
Local officials in Boulder City, NV recently reported that the Boulder City Council is currently in negotiations with Raleigh, NC-based Solargenix regarding leasing terms for the development of a new 50-megawatt solar power facility in the city’s Eldorado Valley.
According to officials, Solargenix is seeking to acquire the 350 acres required for the plant for less than the land’s appraised value, a move that will not be approved by the city planning commission unless it determines that the leased property would prove beneficial to the local community.
Solargenix Western area manager Gary Bailey noted that the proposed plant, which would feature parabolic mirrors that generate steam to turn turbines, could potentially undergo construction as soon as October, becoming operational by March 2005.
