Too much fun!

Vieira, Peter

I’ll confess: after spending two sunny afternoons playing in the dirt with eight grin-inducing trucks under the auspices of “work,” I felt as if my editorlal compadres and I had been cheating our employers. Those should have been counted as vacation days! Even if only the smallest fraction of the fun we had testing the trucks for the 2WD Electric Monster Truck Guide comes through on the printed page, you’ll have a good sense of the laugh-out-loud time we had-and you can have-with these vehicles.

If that’s not enough truck action for you, there are more big-tire thrills in our coverage of the National Radio Control Truck Pulling Association World Championships. Contributing author Kevin Hetmanski not only covered the event, but he also competed in it! The NR/CTPA World Champs is always a colorful event with lots of trick hardware and … well, you’ll see for yourself. Check it out!

For high-speed hijinks back on pavement, we turn our attention to the world of R/C drag racing, courtesy of faithful contributor-and long-time draggerMike Ogle. Mike explains the whys and hows of scale quartermite competition in Now to Get Started in JVC DEVO Racing. If you’re feeling the need for speed, this is your fix.

For another take on flat-top high performance, Tamiya’s mid-motor touring chassis gets a competition makeover at the hands of senior editor George M. Gonzalez-a Tamiya guy from way back (“Dude, I loved my Hotshot!”). George shows how he built his Tamiya Championship Series-ready racer in Project TAO31. G-man, if your ‘R performs as good as it looks, you’ll be unstoppable.

And of course we’ve packed in all the usual good stuff: six big “Thrash Tests,” “Racer News,” “Product Watch”-all that’s new in R/C. Looks like I’m just about out of space, so I’ll return to the hot projects we have cookin’ for April; until then, enjoy!
