SCNA ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSE (APRN) SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP SC NURSE PRACTITIONER COALITION (SCNPC) UPDATE

Melba, Kay

The purpose of the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse SIG (APRN) is to promote the practice of APRNs in South Carolina. The SIG members are the APRN members of SCNA. SCNPC provides a network that promotes the dissemination of legislative and practice issues to regional NP groups.

The next meeting of the SCNA SIG and the SCNPC will be May 15, 2004. All APRNs are invited to attend this meeting. We need the help of all APRNs in the state to accomplish our agenda for health care. The Nurse Practice Act is currently in the legislature. There are several language changes being voted considered. It is critical that APRNs be aware of the changes and contact legislators from your counties or districts.

SC NURSE PRACTITIONER COALITION APRN SIG

The Coalition needs funds for lobbying/political reform. Need every NP to join (Put your money where your mouth is). Membership dues are $50.00 per year and will be due in January. The membership application is on the web site (www.sc-npc .com). If you have not renewed your membership to the coalition or to SCNA the time is NOW!
