Photos really do add pounds – Think Healthy News

Ben Kallen

If you’ve ever been shocked by how heavy you look in a photograph, stop worrying: It may be largely an illusion. By comparing regular photos to more realistic-looking 3-D images, psychologists at the University of Liverpool in England found that the camera really does “add” almost 9 pounds to the average woman, accentuating her hip-to-waist ratio and making her neck appear thicker. The same effect seems to make men look more masculine by giving them a stronger jaw line.
