You may be able to beat the winter blahs this year by changing how and where you eat, says Michael Smolensky, Ph.D., co-author of The Body Clock Guide to Better Health (Henry Holt and Co., 2001) and an expert on seasonal affective disorder (SAD). He suggests consuming the majority of your calories earlier in the day (when you can burn them more efficiently, and to counteract carb cravings) and painting your kitchen a bright, cheerful color.
