Edward Spoto, MD, is the chief medical officer of heart and vascular services at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Fla. Spoto, a Tampa native, previously served as transplant cardiologist for LifeLink Transplant Institute in Tampa. He also served as director of the cardiac intensive care unit at Tampa General Hospital from 1978 to 1997. A graduate of Tulane Medical School, Spoto completed an internship at the Charity Hospital in New Orleans and residency plus a cardiology fellowship at Emory University.
