Training programme on HIV/AIDS for nurses-a report
The TNAI Manipur State Branch, in collaboration with Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) conducted above mentioned programme (18-20 October 2002) at RIMS Hospital, Lamphelpat, Imphal to review and update the knowledge of Nurses regarding the signs & symptoms of HIV/AIDS, their preventive detection and management Mrs. Th. Nandarani Devi, Sister Tutor welcomed the Chief guest and other dignitaries, Mrs. M. Mecha Devi, Sister Tutor introduced the theme. Prof. Ahanthem Dijamani Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS hospital was the chief guest Mrs. Y. Manjuri Devi compared the inaugural session.
The Chief guest in his inaugural address expressed that HIV/AIDS is one of the major threats to the life of the people causing burden on the economy of the country. The inaugural session ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. L. Ibohal Singh.
Some of major sessions conducted by eminent Resource Persons were-Global, Asian & Indian scenario of HIV/AIDS and basic facts of HIV/ AIDS testing, diagnosis & clinical manifestation and management of HIV/AIDS, universal orecaution and PEP palliative care & support of PLWHA and counselling of HIV/AIDS.
At the valedictory session Mrs. Y. Manjuri Devi, welcomed the Chief guest, Prof. N. Bijoy Singh, Director RIMS. Prof. Singh expressed his concern over the threat of HIV/AIDS and assured that TNAI would be conducting many such training programmes in future to create awareness in general public and to educate health personnel regarding various forms of HIV/AIDS, its prevention and management Mr. L. Ibohal Singh proposed vote of thanks.
