Golden jubilee celebration

The Leelabai Thackersey College of Nursing started its year long celebration front July 2001 with the theme ‘Quality care through excellence in Nursing Education”, was emphasized through workshops aimed at updating knowledge of nurses about the development in nursing through updates & advancement in:

* Trauma Nursing

* Effective management

* Nursing Education

* Nursing are components in maternal & child health,

* Quality education through supervision

* Community mental health nursing

* Reproductive child health

* AIDS awareness – a need among adolescents

* Research – a basis for quality assurance

* Geriatric care and

* First aid

The college organized a raffle to help raise funds to meet the expenses and on Oct. 2001 a Fun-n-Fair organized by faculty & students.

The celebrations concluded on the 13th July, 2002. The chief guest was Prof. Mrs. G. Sigmany, former Principal, LTCN. An alumni association -‘Tarangan’ was inaugurated on the day. A scientific session chaired by Mrs. A Joykutty, Principal L.T.C.N. was held in which lectures were delivered on – ‘Health secenario and health care delivery system in India – move towards quality’ by Dr. Mrs. M. Megh, ‘Collaboration between nursing service and nursing education for quality care’ by Dr. Mrs. Mariam Mathew & Mrs. Uma Handa and Quality Patient care using nursing audit by Mrs. Abanti Gopan.

The grand final started at 3 pm, the chief guest was Mrs. Nirmala Sawant Prabavalkar and guest of honor was Dr. N.C. Puri. The Ex-Vice chancellor and Ex- Registrar were present on the occasion along with 3 graduates of the first batch with their teachers. Dr. Puri released the souvenir and Dr. Trivedi released the educational manuscript prepared.

The evening concluded with a short cultural program, followed by refreshments for all.
