Good buzz for bee products
AUSTRALIA – The Australian and New Zealand Food Authority has determined that bee products are not any more dangerous than other foods. The Authority has issued a report acknowledging that bee pollen and propolis, the two most common bee products, are extremely low – risk and do not require warning labels. The report reverses a previous decision by ANZFA and the New Zealand Ministry of Health that all royal jelly, bee pollen and propolis products should carry warnings about “severe” allergic reactions. The new decision is the culmination of three years of work by the National Nutritional Foods Association of New Zealand and the beekeeping industry.
