Fletcher Allen plans inpatient psychiatric unit – Vermont Highlights – Brief Article
Burlington-Following a collaborative planning effort, representatives of a mental health task force have announced their recommendations for the location of an interim inpatient psychiatric unit at Fletcher Allen Health Care. Fletcher Allen is submitting its letter of intent to file a Certificate of Need application for the unit to the Department of Banking, Insurance, Securities, and Health Care Administration. The letter calls for the $15.5 million facility to be built in the Shepardson Building on the Medical Center Campus in Burlington. The proposed 28-bed unit will replace the outdated unit in the Smith Building.
In addition, Fletcher Allen denounces an Associated Press story that stated that Standard & Poor’s had placed the hospital on credit watch with negative implications. Fletcher Allen notes that this does not change the organization’s underlying credit rating, which remains at A-, considered to be a strong rating.
