MD&M moves inland for Minneapolis show – Brief Article – Statistical Data Included

Medical Design and Manufacturing (MD&M) events move once again from more traditional locales on the East and West coasts when MD&M Minneapolis is held Oct. 17-18, 2001 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Last year, says MD&M, more than 3,000 medical manufacturing and design professionals crowded the exhibit hall in what it called the Midwest’s largest and best attended device and manufacturing exhibition.

More than 77% of those attendees were directly involved in purchasing for their respective companies, says MD&M, and 35% of all attendees represented companies with more than 500 employees. For pure regional appeal, 92% were described as coming from the Midwest.

MD&M also broke attendee demographics into specific groups:

* Engineering–35%

* Research and Development–23%

* General/Corporate Management–17%

* Production/Manufacturing–17%

* Quality Assurance/Quality Control–7%

* Regulator/Legal Affairs–1%.

A number of conference sessions are intended to attract device buyers to the event, including “Thriving In the World of Internet-enabled Medical Device Commerce.”
