Fuji Medical Systems USA, Inc – contract with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee

Fuji Medical Systems USA, Inc., Stamford, Conn., picked up what is said to be the largest single order for computed radiography (CR) equipment ever written in the U.S. this spring when the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., placed a $4.6 million order. The order includes 36 computer workstations intended to increase “soft copy viewing” of X-ray images using computer monitors rather than “hard copy” images on X-ray film. The purchase is a key element in the hospital’s move toward an eventually filmless radiology department. The purchase gives the facility, which earlier purchased 11 Fuji CR readers and other related equipment, what is believed to be the most comprehensive CR-based picture archiving communication system (PACS) system in the nation.
