Dornier Surgical Products, Inc – Brief Article

Dornier Surgical Products, Inc., Atlanta, has reached agreement with Circon Corporation, a subsidiary of Maxxim Medical, Inc., Clearwater, Fla., for the distribution and marketing of the Medilas H, a new Holmlum:YAG urological laser system.

Circon will distribute the Medilas H through a direct sales force of approximately 150 representatives in the U.S. and Canada. Dornier will provide 24-hour customer service and support through its field organization and in-house customer service staff.

The Holmlum:YAG laser is designed specifically for urinary stone treatment and features a 3 Hz – 10 Hz range, which the company says minimizes stone movement while providing a high degree of patient safety for stones not treatable with traditional lithotripsy.

According to Dornier national sales manager Dean Chase, the distribution agreement is in response to urologists’ requests for product packages as opposed to technology-driven manufacturing. Chase says the collaboration will offer better patient outcomes at lower cost.
