Weis gears up for four-store build – Supermarket Aisle – Weis Markets – Brief Article
SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets plans to invest $72.4 million this year to build four superstores, as well as remodel or expand 19 other locations. All the new stores will have pharmacies, according to company spokesman Dennis Curtin.
“When we build a store, it generally contains a pharmacy,” said Curtin. “Pharmacy’s been a very strong and growing part of our business.” Weis currently operates 160 stores, including 108 with pharmacies.
All the new stores and most of there models will be in Pennsylvania, where Weis operates 134 stores. The company also has stores in Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia and West Virginia.
