Sagelands 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon – Wine Notes – Brief Article – Column

Philip E. Hiaring

At $17.25 suggested retail, Sagelands 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington State’s Columbia Valley doesn’t exactly cry out for pizza. But it certainly went well with the pizza I had with it. This is red wine as it should be, round in the mouth with a sweetness coming, I think, from the oak and the a.c. It’s a great blend, 75% Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance the four other Bordeaux varieties. Other food suggestions would include tenderloin of pork and, of course, lamb chops. Tasted in October.
