Haiku and Champagne — Huh? – Brief Article

Philip E. Hiaring

Weird or not, Pacific Echo Cellars, owned by the French, held its Third Annual Haiku Challenge. I don’t know about the top prize, either — a “luxurious trip for two to California’s Anderson Valley.” This may be a big deal if you’re from Hoopletown and never set foot in California before, but for us spoiled locals, ho-hum. The theme is Haiku — a Japanese verse form — and champagne. Particularly the art of its enjoyment. Haiku and the old sparkle… neat!
