Stevenot Winery in Calaveras County has been sold for an undisclosed sum to Paso Robles developer Jack Munan. Munan said he plans to improve the existing winery as well as add a new label and tasting room. Barden Stevenot founded the winery in 1973, and is credited with helping launch the Calaveras wine industry. The sale includes 80 acres of vines as well as the winery…. Brown-Forman has completed the sale of its Jekel Winery facility in Monterey County to S.A.M. Properties. The purchase price was not disclosed, but includes the winery, equipment and vineyards surrounding the facility. Jekel, established by William Jekel in 1968, was a Monterey wine pioneer. It will continue as an orphan brand, produced at other B-F facilities. The winery was closed in 2004…. Castle Vineyard and Winery in Sonoma has been sold for an undisclosed price to John and Kathleen Sweezey. The sale includes the Castle and Plaza brands, inventory, equipment and a 16-acre Pinot Noir vineyard in Carneros.
