Reverend Jesse Jackson visits American Apparel – Los Angeles factory facility – Brief Article
LOS ANGELES – Renowned political activist Reverend Jesse Jackson took time out of his busy schedule in mid-February to tour American Apparel’s downtown Los Angeles factory facility.
After receiving a personal presentation from Senior Partner Dov Charney on the company’s philosophy and a tour of the facility, Jackson joked over the phone to Dov Charney’s mother: “I’m here at your son’s factory trying to get a job.” He went on to say: “He (Charney) has the energy of three people but it’s wonderful. Making money and making sense at the same time. If you can do well and do good at the same time, it’s really a blessing.”
In light of an election year and a weak economy, Reverend Jackson, so impressed with the company, suggested that an invitation to tour the facility be extended to Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., the presumptive presidential nominee for the Democratic Party in the 2004 election.
Clips from the Jackson tour can be viewed on the American Apparel web site at www.americanapparel.net.
