Promotional Products Association International (PPAI) recently announced the promotion of William R. “Bill” Prickett to the position of manager of public relations. Prickett had been public relations specialist for the Association since 2001. “The new position recognizes the many responsibilities that Bill has taken on since he came to the department,” says Tina Berres Filipski, associate vice president for communications. “He has expanded the position to the point where we wanted to recognize his contributions and upgrade the position to match the level of responsibility at which he was already performing.”
The Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI) has promoted Rob Spike to the position of ASInternet Sales Manager/New Product Development Manager. Spike began his career with ASI over eight years ago as an account manager in the catalog sales department. He was promoted to the Distributor Sales division and most recently served as the distributor call center supervisor.
Earlier this year, ASI promoted Karyn Hamilton Coates to the position of Director of ASInternet. Coates has been with ASI since graduating from Penn State in 1994. She was one of the first employees of the ASInternet division when it was created in 1995. She has played an integral role in the planning and growth of the division, starting as a coordinator and advancing to trainer, assistant supervisor, supervisor and senior supervisor.
Stahls’ Inc., manufacturer and inventor of graphic systems for imprinting, appointed Elaine Sables as Marketing Director. Sables is responsible for the company’s marketing strategy and direction. Stahls’ also named Keith Giertz as its Corporate Communications and Advertising Coordinator. As a member of Stahls’ marketing team, Giertz is responsible for Stahls’ media relations, publicity, community relations, and events planning, to name a few. Proforma welcomes Eric Nelsen of Walnut Creek, Calif., as owner of Proforma Full Moon Promotions. Nelsen has almost 20 years experience in the promotional products industry, including owning his own ad specialty business for four years and working as a key leader for Wood & Associates for seven years. Nelsen and his sales and office support team of four will service a client list that includes Sun Microsystems, Charles Schwab, Lucasfilms, Chevron, the San Francisco 49ers, the Golden State Warriors, and more.
Nine promotional products industry professionals recently passed the Master Advertising Specialist and Certified Advertising Specialist (MAS/CAS) certification examinations, administered by Promotional Products Association International (PPAI).
Those who received the prestigious Master Advertising Specialist (MAS) certification were: Joyce Cooley, MAS, Brad’s Ads; Ruth A. Kramer, MAS, Target Promotion Specialties; Sarah S. Spratt, MAS, West Hawk Industries; Julia M. Wright, MAS, Marco-Ideas Unlimited; Charles L. Littlepage, MAS, Ice Blue Advertising. The MAS certification requires the equivalent of 170 classroom hours from a structured curriculum, five years of experience in the promotional products industry and a passing score on the MAS certification exam.
Receiving the Certified Advertising Specialist (CAS) certification were: Ralene M. Ehardt, CAS, Broder Bros.; Louis L. Rapin, CAS, Aarin Promotions; Randi A. Briggs, CAS, Target Marketing Associates, Inc.; Donnie Whiteman, CAS, Francis & Lusky Corp. Promotions of America. The CAS certification requires the equivalent of 70 classroom hours from a structured curriculum, three years of experience in the promotional products industry and a passing score on the CAS certification exam.
