News from District II

District II held it’s annual meeting on May 16, 2007 at Hilary’s in Morrisville. Twenty-nine people–21 members and eight guests–attended. The annual Business meeting was held followed by a wonderful buffet served by Hilary, a great Speaker, Annette Halaz, and a silent Auction.

District II would like to thank guests and nursing students, Suzanne Picard and Rae Lynn Branch, who have helped set up the auction and manned the desk for the past two years.

The new officers were announced:

* Vice-President: Margaret Luce,

* Secretary: Mary Vass, and

* Director-at-Large: Deb Sanguinetti.

The nominating committee, Tracy Taylor, Rachel Rolfe and Catherine Guy, received thanks from District Two.

The silent auction raised $239.00. Many thanks to members and merchants for their continued support.

The educational program featured Annette Halaz, who gave an excellent talk on state-of-the-art diabetes care, which generated great discussion and questions from members. Annette presently is The Diabetic Educator/ Clinical Specialist for Innovex, and travels extensively in the northeast presenting educational programs and consulting with health care providers. She has worked in Diabetes care for many years and is well known in the field, at many levels. District II members would like to thank Annette for the excellent presentation and donating her time to this event.

District II, would also like to thank Michelle Walker for her tenure as secretary of the district, and her ongoing work with the silent Auction and continued support of members and nursing students. The District would also like to thank outgoing Director Helen Spring and Sharon Bisson for their help and support.

The next meeting of the District will occur at Convention on October 25th, when each district will hold a business meeting.

District II members are urged to attend convention on October 24 and 25, 2007 at The Capitol Plaza in Montpelier. They are also encouraged to bring friends and colleagues. The convention: “Ethical Issues And Quality of Care in Today’s Health Care Environment,” promises many innovative and thought provoking presentations and discussions by noted professionals at the local, state and national level.
