Latest Play: Named regional managing director of Merrill Lynch’s South Florida region
Background: Palmer, who oversees 34 offices in South Florida and the Virgin Islands for the New York-based financial services giant, brings 25 years of experience in the private client business. She has been with Merrill Lynch for 15 years, most recently overseeing the firm’s European business as managing director of Merrill Lynch Global Private Client. Prior to that, she worked in San Francisco as director for the Asian US Complex, overseeing five California-based offices serving Asian clients.
Ambition: The native of St. Louis speaks four languages, including Spanish, Portuguese and French. “All my international experience can be drawn together to better serve the clients in South Florida,” she says. Palmer and her counterpart for the northern part of the state are also starting a diversity council for Florida. “That will try to focus on how we can access diverse financial advisors and clients, and work with the appropriate partners in the community to really help different parts of the community,” she says.
