The Parksite Group, a two-step distributor based in Batavia, Ill., was named to Inc. Magazine’s list of the 2002 500 fastest-growing companies in the nation. The listing, first published in 1982, ranks the leading U.S. firms according to sales growth over the previous five years. Past Inc. 500 companies include Microsoft, Timberland, and Domino’s Pizza.

The sixth-largest company ranked in this year’s list, The Parksite Group experienced 604 percent growth over the past five years, landing them in the No. 392 spot on the list. Recent acquisitions of Plunkett-Webster in 2000 and MetroSloan & Associates in 2001 fueled a $204 million growth spree, from $33 million in 1997 to $237 million in 2001. “It kind of pats everyone on the back,” says Darrin Haugan, vice president of marketing, who anticipates continued growth in the future. “We’re financially sound, and that gives us an opportunity to look for additional growth through acquisitions or through territorial expansion through the products we carry.”

Parksite (www.parksite.com) is led by president and CEO George Pattee.
