Bobst premieres Flexo 160-Vision – At Company Headquarters

Lausanne, Switzerland — Representatives from nearly 100 companies from around the world traveled in October to Bobst Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland for premier demonstrations of the new Bobst Flexo 160-Vision.

A fixed-station, high boardline printer, the Flexo 160-Vision was demonstrated operating inline with Bobst’s SPO 160-Vision Autoplaten[R] diecutter and gBreak[TM] separator. Like the SPO 160-Vision diecutter, one of the Flexo 160-Vision’s key attributes is dramatically reduced setup time and ease of operation.

The Flexo 160-Vision handles sheets with a maximum size of 63 by 43 inches. For the demonstration, the line was printing, diecutting and breaking/separating sheets at the speed of 4,500 sheets per hour. While Flexo 160-Vision under demonstration only included two print units, the Flexo 160-Vision is expandable and is offered in three-, four- or five-color versions. Each unit is independently servo-driven to provide highly precise register and allow for print length correction for unequaled print quality. The control of each unit of the line is carried out using the CUBE (Control Unit Bobst Electronic) system.

Present for the demonstrations, Tom Phillips, sales manager for Corrugated Board for Bobst, USA, reports that the Flexo 160-Vision represents a new level of performance at an unmatched price.

“Like our SPO 160-Vision diecutter, the Flexo 160-Vision is the result of a market-driven engineering effort to both raise production while lowering machine cost,” Phillips says. “With the Vision line we are now delivering Bobst performance at highly-competitive prices.”

The presentation was held in one of the production halls of the Bobst factory at Mex dedicated solely to corrugated board. Members of the audience remarked on the benefits they will be able to gain from this equipment. Several orders taken to date confirm market acceptance and endorsement of this new design and Bobst’s aggressive approach to cost reduction.

The Flexo 160-Vision brings together technology with flexibility to print both simple and sophisticated jobs. In combination with the SPO 160-Vision Autoplaten diecutter and gBreak separator, the line gives its operators unprecedented ease of use and the ability to achieve optimum productivity levels immediately.
