CAMDEN, N.J. — Campbell Soup Co. named Mark A. Sarvary president of Pepperidge Farm Inc., effective Aug. 1.
Sarvary succeeds David L. Albright, who is leaving the company to pursue other plans. Albright joined Campbell in 1986 and has served in his current position since 1996.
Sarvary, who served as chief executive of J. Crew Group Inc. from 1999 to 2002, will report to Campbell president and chief executive Douglas R. Conant.
“David Albright has been an outstanding leader for Pepperidge Farm and a valued member of our senior management team,” Conant said. “As Campbell has invested in Pepperidge Farm, Dave and his team have fully leveraged our investments to strengthen this terrific franchise.”
Sarvary brings a wide range of management and marketing experience to Campbell. He spent six years in a number of senior management posts at Nestle USA, beginning in 1993 as vice president of business development of the company’s Food division. Later he was named vice president of retail confections of the Chocolate division.
From 1995 to 1999 he held three executive positions in the company’s Frozen Food division — vice president, marketing; assistant general manager; and president/general manager.
“Mark brings to Pepperidge Farm a strong combination of food-industry, management and consumer-marketing experience,” Conant said.
