MIAMI — Burger King Corp. named Nish Kankiwala president of its international business, which encompasses more than 3,000 units. He succeeds Andre Lacroix, who will take over as head of theme park operator Euro Disney in France.
Kankiwala, who was president of PepsiCo Inc.’s European division, will report to Brad Blum, Burger King’s chief executive. The No. 2 burger chain, which has approximately 8,000 domestic units, is looking to open about 100 new overseas outlets annually, a BK official said. Most of the chain’s overseas restaurants are owned by franchisees. Burger King has entered eight new foreign markets in the last five years, including Italy, Portugal, Austria and parts of the Middle East.
