BAA Maryland plans four restaurants for BWI Airmall

BALTIMORE — Four restaurants have been chosen to occupy the new Airmail at Baltimore-Washington International Airport here.

Mark Knight, president of BAA Maryland Inc., which manages 140,000 square feet of concession space at the airport, said the Airmail would feature both national and local brands. The national chains will be Quiznos and Villa Pizza, and two local concepts, California Tortilla and Obrycki’s, also will set up units.

Franchisee Great Foods LLC of Landover, Md., plans to open five Quiznos and three Villa Pizza units at the airport. California Tortilla, based in Rockville, Md., plans to open three units at the airport, one of them in the presecurity area. Obrycki’s, from Baltimore’s Fells Point neighborhood, will open one unit in Concourse B in July.

The terminal is undergoing a two-year refurbishment that began in 2004. When finished, the Airmail will resemble the one built at Pittsburgh International Airport in the 1990s. BAA also manages concessions at the Pittsburgh terminal, under the name BAA Pittsburgh Inc.
